In our Fellow Tips series, you’ll find easy steps that you can take to make every meeting you schedule more productive and worth showing up to.

Tip #1: Use meeting agenda templates

Tip #2: Build collaborative agendas in advance ⬇️

When people have the opportunity to contribute to a meeting agenda and prepare ahead of time, they feel more engaged and included in the conversation.

That’s why we recommend that you build an agenda before every meeting, collaboratively.

This will ensure that all talking points are recorded and that everyone at the meeting has a voice — especially if you have members of your team who are naturally a bit quieter.

3 ways to collaborate on a meeting agenda with Fellow

1 Add talking points when they come to mind (in advance)

Sometimes it can be difficult remembering what you wanted to talk about in a meeting. It’s a busy world, and it’s easy to forget.

Instead, save yourself some of the hassle by adding talking points directly to the note when you think of them, and encourage your team members to do the same.

This allows everyone to have a say, and to preview the talking points in advance. Plus it’s a lot easier to write talking points gradually over the course of the week than frantically trying to remember 30 minutes before the meeting.

Each talking point that gets added will also have the icon of the person who added it, so you can see how much or how little everyone is contributing.

2 Add talking points directly from Slack

Make it even easier to create an agenda just by adding talking points directly from Slack. If something comes up in a conversation, just add it directly to the agenda.

You can do this by selecting the “Add to Meeting notes” from the three dot drop down at the end of the line, or in “More message shortcuts”.

Slack will also remind you to add to the agenda (depending on your settings).

3 Encourage your team to add talking points before the meeting

Send the agenda to a particular Slack channel, Teams channel, or email to encourage your team to add in their own talking points.

BONUS – Automate with the Slack Workflow

You can have notes automatically sent to a Slack channel on a regular, recurring basis by using the Slack Workflow Builder. For example, you can set it up so the notes are sent to the channel every Tuesday at 9am, which is a few hours before the team meeting.

And to make it even easier, we already have a Workflow template set-up for you to get started! 🚀
