Goal-setting meetings involve setting specific, role-oriented, and measurable objectives that the employee works toward while working at your company. These are important since they are a step up from the short-term goals.

This is where you and your direct report discuss their long-term plan and objectives. These take longer than five years, and all the short-term and medium-term goals should build up to long-term goals. This is the big picture for the employee, and you, their employer, must help them achieve it.

What are the steps the direct report is going to undertake to achieve the goals? How are you going to help them? Discuss all the action items, and establish the course of action. Also, discuss the available resources and time and how you can collaborate to ensure they achieve the objectives while giving the best to the company.

5📝 Notepad

AIf there is anything to add to the meeting, you discuss it in this section. Other issues related to the employee and their goals need to be addressed go here. Ensure that everyone is happy and content with the outcome at the end of the meeting. If there are any pending items, they need to be handled so the employee can start working on the goals.
